Director/Producer: Hala Gabriel was born as a Palestinian refugee in Syria to parents that were forced from their homes in Palestine. When she was 8 years old, Hala's parents managed to immigrate to the United States where she has spent her adult life as a proponent for the Right of Return and working to improve the lives of Palestinians around the world.
Artistically, Hala attended the California Institute of Arts, majoring in Film and Television Production and in 2004, won the Silver Award at the International Houston Film Festival for her critically acclaimed short documentary entitled The Love Project.
Hala continues to work as a freelance producer, production supervisor and production accountant for the major studios in Los Angeles.
Creative Producer: Talal Jabari is an award-winning filmmaker who has whose films have been broadcast worldwide on Arte, the Al Jazeera Documentary Channel and others. Talal’s latest feature documentary, Enemies of the South, commissioned by Al Jazeera Documentary, aired in multiple primetime slots and spent over a year ranked in the station’s Top 30 documentaries.
Talal also co-produced the critically acclaimed Speed Sisters (Hot Docs 2015), as well as field-produced the 3-part documentary series Holy Blood (Israel Channel 10).
Previous to that, Talal’s debut feature Full Signal, garnered 3 distribution deals after a successful festival run and being screened in Congress.
Talal is also the cinematographer of Naela and the Uprising (IDFA, 2017), and a recipient of the Jan Vrijman Fund (IDFA). A multi-linguist, Talal has worked extensively in the Middle East, Sub-saharan Africa, Eastern and Western Europe as well as North America. Talal currently lives in NY.
